Re: IT'S TIME TO ABANDON THIS SANDBOX

Carter Braxton spake thus:

I, like so many others, run into the same problem with my personal e-mail
and periodically have to change my address. It's a real pain and eventually
the spammers find it and start sending me crap again but for a while at
least, I am able to use my e-mail the way it was intended.

I wonder if the same could be done with our newsgroup... either create a new
newsgroup for us or "adopt" an existing railroad newsgroup. We would have
to post a "we have moved" notice for our regular readers but since I expect
that most spammers don't bother to read the newsgroups they attack, we might
get away from them somewhere else... at least for a while.

Fuggadaboudit.

You can't hide from these fuckers; they know the entire Usenet territory like the backs of their hands. The same thing would only start up anew at the "new" location.

Best plan is to weather the storm and wait until it blows over. Meantwhile, if you're sensitive to seeing their crap, I suggest you learn to use the "killfile" feature of your mail/news client (Micro$oft Outlook Express in your case). It's not hard to do.

Me, I don't need no steenkin' killfiles: I read what I want to read, and ignore the rest. Also pretty easy to do.

By the way, concerning your email address: Why do you have such a problem with spam? I get ZERO spam in my inbox. That's because I NEVER, EVER use my real email address in places like this (check my From: header). Using your real address is just asking for trouble.

Don't talk to me, those of you who must need to be slammed in the
forehead with a maul before you'll GET IT that Wikipedia is a
time-wasting, totality of CRAP...don't talk to me, don't keep bleating
like naifs, that we should somehow waste MORE of our lives writing a
variorum text that would be put up on that site.

It is a WASTE OF TIME.
