My statements about track standards are universal, as is my statement
about flat modules. The fact Mark has chosen to fall into the trap of a
flat baseboard and NMRA sloppy track standards is his problem.

The only thing you've said I'm going to respond to is this one. Any man, no
matter what standards he uses, that puts up with operation that is less than
he desires will get no sympathy from me. If the damn train won't stay on
the track, FIX IT! Plain and simple, and your standards mean nothing as
soon as you start to cure operating problems, because you're going to have
to go outside those standards to make it work. For that matter, I haven't
seen any NMRA or any other gage for models that I couldn't show you where
the gage is sloppily made, to sloppy tolerances by comparison. Gages do
nothing but put you somewhere in a standard tolerance range, from that point
on it's up to the builder to get it to work. You say "HO precision", but
define precision. To me precision is fifty millionths of an inch or less,
but then I'm a retired gage technician as well as toolmaker. Song and dance
don't cut it, if something doesn't work right it's up to the owner to make
it work right, whether he follows your standards or no standards at all. It
isn't a standard that makes it work.

And again, it's not your hobby, it's Marks, your opinion counts in the
negative numbers there. NIH snobbery is always pretty transparent too.

Rich.
