energy any time soon. FFS we have 100 TRILLION cubic metres of gas to
sell to the world, mostly to India and China. So when you cook up that
next batch of tuna and beans or whatever it is you eat, thank Australia
for making that possible.
I sincerely hope you are correct.
You missed this?

Your position here is that when we reach 1:1No, that is not my position.
EROEI people in large cities will start growing vegetables using
sustainable agriculture. And that is going to feed everyone?
Then stop telling me i'm wrong, because you sound extraordinarily
stupid.
I'm not saying that 1:1 EROEI won't happen *some day* in the same way that the heat death of the universe is kinda inevitable. But it isn't going to happen tomorrow or next year. It's about timing. And with peak oil; we don't have to worry about oil 'running out' this year or next. The shape of the curve on the downward side does not necessarily have to be steep and calamitous. There can be (and indeed already are) bumps on the curve due to both demand and supply factors.
People like you should listen to people like me. But you don't, which is
why you are where you are and have what you have, and why I am where I
am and have what I have.
Oh, I listen to you, but you dangle what you know in front of me like
a carrot, only to yank it away any time I ask for advice.
When did you ask, Christopher?
It's not
that I'm not listening, it's that you don't want to teach. We've
discussed this before.
What do you want to know? You want stock picks? I don't do stock picks. I do however offer advice that you can use with as much or as little leverage as you wish. For instance, had you taken my advice of Dec 2008 to take a bullish view on raw sugar, you'd have done very well by now. It's about timing, Christopher.
Please, tell me again how the people in cities will get fed when weWhen will this happen and for whom? Worldwide?
get close to 1:1 EROEI. Teach me. I'm all ears.
I am not discussing when. That's a strawman you've created.
No, it's about timing. Is a pattern emerging for you?
I am only
proposing that when we get close, whenever that may happen, certain
things are bound to occur.
Worldwide EROEI of 1:1 is not happening in your lifetime. Period.
This is about the end of oil.The end of oil is not now, and 'running out' is not the issue.
Christopher, you're simply not cluey enough to see what's real and
what's not, but it's been fun watching you try.
Any time you want to talk facts, instead of telling me how stupid I
am, go right ahead.
Facts are, the world is not going to run out of energy in the near future. If you think it is, that's a claim that requires a little more precision, especially if you expect people to start acting now.
Until then I'll just note that it doesn't matter
how dumb I am, when we get close to 1:1 EROEI large cities will start
to fail and hungry, desperate people will roam the countryside,
looting and pillaging like zombies.
Yes, on foot.
It's not energy efficient to walk the distances required in the hope of finding something better than what you left behind. The idiots will likely do it though, and die bewildered, victims of their own idiocy.
But none of this is even remotely likely in the near future, certainly not in your lifetime, or your children's, and perhaps not inevitable at all in the short to medium term, and you know what Keynes said about the long run....
