Obama gave a masterful, brilliant speech tonight.
Or rather, his producers did... the speech itself is more of the same
rhetoric, only with a bit more flash and glitz. Never mind that 90%
of what he claims "he" is going to do as president is either
logistically impossible or beyond the powers of the presidency.
---But not if the Dems control the house and Senate as well...
But gee, there were so many pretty lights when he said it, and so many
people were cheering!
Handed the Republicans their collective asses on a platter.
Only if the majority of Americans are as gullible as you are - which
is unfortunately possible. Did you even notice that he's flip-flopped
on the war? He went from pulling us out in 16 months to staying as
long as it takes.
---It's almost impossible to count all McCains flip flops....not to mention outright ignorance...Czechoslovakia anyone?
McCain is toast in a fair election, and the wingers are going to have to work
overtime to steal this one.
All of the major polls have them virtually tied within the margin for
error... Event more significantly, all of the major opinion polls
have Barak actually *losing* ground in the past week or so, which is
very unusual.
---Not really....as much as people loathe them, untruthful attack ads work.
He is in fact the first presidential candidate in
recent memory to actually lose polling points during his own
convention.
Whether or not his speech last night will change that remains to be
seen. Basically it will need to move independents and Hillary
supporters.
They're going to need to manufacture a hell of a
crisis to frighten the people enough.
You mean a crisis worse than having a less-than-one-term senator who
is running on brazen naiveté and empty promises sitting in the Oval
Office?
----McCain's picked a one term woman governor for VP. Not a whole lot of experience there. McCain's in God's waiting room as it is....
In all seriousness, I have nothing against the guy. I've met him a
couple of times, and I have no doubt whatsoever that he means every
word that he says. He honestly might be the most decent guy in
Washington, and for a while - and I said the same thing months ago - I
thought that, in and of itself, might be enough.
But after listening to him speak for past few months, I realize that
the man is mostly hype. He is terribly naive, extremely arrogant, and
he lacks anything resembling real conviction.
---It's hard to be a politician and not have an ego....
As hard as it is to
believe that I'm even saying it, I think I would actually rather see.
Hillary Clinton as president.
Who knows, maybe a nuke in a US city, and martial law. I wouldn't put it past them.
They're drunk with power. They have more of The Constitution to trash. More of the
middle class to destroy. More nations with oil resources to steal.
One thing is for certain, it will be a hell of a show.
I hear they're going to start using live kittens as socks.
