FWIW i've observed what I have come to call the "Goldberg Variation"
on a number of newsgroups; JB (and to a lesser extent, malf and tweet)
on rec.games.go - then you have keith adams and marc mulay on
alt.guitar. For example. The pattern is roughly the same:

a) not actually involved with the newsgroup subject (for example,
playing go, guitar, or actually doing martial arts)
b) an insipid, general hatred which is expressed by backbiting and
making up lies about other people
c) frequently calls a court of public opinion, or insinuates that his
opinion is self-worthy of discussion (regardless of a lack of
experience or credibility [see a])
d) a droning, academic style backed up by one or more higher degrees
e) a large number of off-topic political postings, usually involving
images of the iraq war/terrorism or president bush. (General theme is
the fall of the american empire you might say, or europe, etc).
(additionally - usually WASPish or racist to a degree)
f) judgemental, especially wrt specialists; can not understand why no
one respects their "opinion" (i.e. the word of god which was handed
down to them from on high).

Yeah as I said nearly every newsgroup has 1 or 2 kooks like this
hanging around..

You are one of the angriest posters to frequent this forum. You have no
idea what motivates me, so you project. Save that *** for your shrink, you

There isn't any use talking to or about mark goldberg except as a
