It's a staple of 80s Ninja movies, but it's true: Catching a falling
cup. Actually the idea for this came to me as I caught a water bottle
which fell off my desk yesterday. A passing student knocked it off,
and even though I was rummaging through my bag for a teacher's book,
my right hand shot out and caught it as it tipped over. I surprised
myself but I don't think anyone else noticed.
I'd even go so far as to "speculate" that combined with situational
awareness, "fast eyes and fast hands" are a prerequisite for good
martial arts.
So, how about you? Do you have any cup-catching stories to share? :)
Happens to me all the time. Mainly because I am:-
a. unco-ordinated
b. scary fast reflexes.
Thursday night I knocked over a glass of water with 2 inches in the bottom of
it and by the time I picked it up off the table it still had an inch and a half
left.
