After all the poseurs and charlatans in your own game of kendo/kenjutsu, and
the abilities of some players in your advanced ranks, I would think you
would understand the reluctance of taking anyone at face value that doesn't
have some standing/credential in the acknowledged community.
As well as the 'rules' for both challenges and the demonstration of skills
by an acknowledged adept.
