Grappling is very popular with police because it lends itself well to
subduing for arrest.

But I've trained with cops in Isshinryu; in boxing too.

What Isshinryu techs were they training ?

Punches, kicks, elbows, knees, throws; all that fun stuff.

Isshinryu is very focused on infighting compared to most other karate
styles; what we consider punching range is well inside the comfort
level of most. We also place a heavy emphasis on basic, natural
movements, and lots of contact.
