None of which transcended every culture, society, geography or timeThere is one thing that has transcended every culture I can think of:
period in human history.
Namely that thunder and lightning are the province of the gods and a way
for them to show displeasure. Until recently that has been the case.
Just because it's recorded in Greek literature doesn't make it worldwide,
nor over all time.
And the things that have been assigned to divine intiative are
impertinent- it's the consistency of belief that is indicative.
There are still a host of unexplained 'miracles'- ignored by 'science'
because they're not replicable/quantifiable/predictable or subject to a
common experimental protocol.
Much like ghosts.
It isn't just Zeus. There is Thor and Indra and any number of sky gods
purported to control lightning and thunder. And "miracles" which to me mean
happenings that can only be attributed to supernatural intervention are thin
upon the ground. For example there is one type of miracle which is never
shown but which would be completely unexplainable in a naturalistic way.
That is the regrowth of an arm or leg spontaneously in humans. We would be
hard pressed to explain such a thing. But you notice this type of miracle is
never shown, rather "bleeding" statues etc is more the norm for "miracles"
or spontaneous remission of cancers which do happen from time to time and
thus cannot be attributable to god's intervention. Take care
