Actually, they're throwing punches just like what the mma stuff is morphing
into; long, looping overhands, semi-Superman punches- little patty-cake
jabs.....

It's a matter of trying to throw punches at a distance wherein one can be
caught by a kick.
No. In MMA it is a matter of trying to throw punches outside of the
distance wherein one can be caught in the clinch or by a takedown. In
the case of the kung fu 'masters' it seems to be a matter of staying
outside of the range where one can be engaged in battle period.
