----Well, he *does* seem to answer the question, "Re-deploy to where?"
Do you agree it should be *us* rebuilding Afganistan instead of the
Taliban(hearts and minds)?
But, with most of our troops bogged down in Iraq with no decernable
end in sight, and troops serving mandatory
15 month tours, sometimes three of them, where will we get the troops
without a draft re-instatement or re-deployment from major bases like
S Korea?

"Quite simply, we must change course -- starting with the immediate
deployment of at least 5,000 additional U.S. troops. That includes
more special forces to defeat the Taliban, more civil affairs troops
to bolster the promising Provisional Reconstruction Teams, more
infantry to prevent Taliban infiltration from Pakistan, and more
clandestine intelligence units to hunt al Qaeda on both sides of the
border. That also means more predator drones to provide real-time
intelligence, more helicopters and transport aircraft to allow rapid
deployment, and more heavy combat equipment to overpower enemy
forces."

----Doesn't sound like "surrender" to me......
