OK there are those that will say the school should have gone into lockdown.
There are those who will say it was the guns fault ( mainly that appeared on
BBC world news last night). The school was already a " no gun zone." That
made it a no brainer as to where a nut case would go to kill a lot of
innocent people. In spite of all the blathering so far, the pansies on the
news have avoided it and no one will talk about the real issue.
One has to ask how one gunman was able to kill 32 people and wound about 16
others. Either he is an incredibly good shot or he is meeting absolutely no
resistance and killing non resisting victims execution style at close range.
What we have here is another colossal massive failure of self defense on
any level. It was not too long ago that a post was made here about a person
who was training grammar school kids how to handle a gunman that walked
into their class.
From one of the survivor's ( he was shot in the arm) descriptions this
morning, the gunman walked into the classroom shot the professor and began
shooting students. The students got on the floor. It is understandable the
students are in shock. Yet anyone who has ever been in a fight has felt the
fight or flight syndrome kick in. The survivor described how he heard the
gunman pause to reload. He said the man appeared trained because he only
took two or three seconds to reload. That is a long pause. No attempt was
made to attack him. After killing 14, the gunmen left and the surviving
students began barricading the door. That showed some real courage - if a
bit late.
So what do we know? Every expert that I have listened to ( and there have
been many) will tell you that pistol wounds are rarely lethal ( but not ones
delivered execution style to non resisting victims). I have researched this
several times. We know about the Tuller drill and that a person can cover 20
feet, about 8 yards, in 11/2 seconds. Knowing this, having the mental
attitude of a fighter, and simply knowing how to fight back, would have
probably saved a lot of kids yesterday. A man with a pistol is much better
armed than unarmed people; but, he is not invulnerable.
Throw something at the *** then charge him. Stab the MF in the neck with
a ball point. If you get shot, keep fighting your chances of survival are
still much better. We saw what chance you have of surviving by laying on the
floor.
It is past time we quit breeding all the fight out of kids and making them
prey to craven cowards. Their behavior is not their fault. It is ours. The
soccer moms are wrong. The 911 do nothing syndrome needs to go in the trash
bin.
Assuming it is too late to bar the door - What self defense measures would
you recommend in this situation?
Implying a lack of courage from the side of the killed students seems
a bit misplaced/timed.
It seems strange though that no-one (or almost no-one) appeared to be
willing to step up an defend their friends/girlfriends. If someone or
something tries to attack my wife, or family, or even my dogs, I will
get in between and try to intercept the threath.
Rushing him as a group would seem like the sensible thing to do in
this particular situation I suppose. If you don't rush him you'll get
picked off one by one. If you rush him some will get shot, but at
least the rest has some chance at survival. He can only shoot so many
moving targets before they get at him.
Off course with him being asian he surely knew either karate or TKD,
and therefore he would have been pretty immune to multiple attackers
anyway.
