I'm not sure what I think of the rules yet. Check 'em out.

Doesn't particularly sound like the sponsors have fought previously with
these rules.
I think using wooden or synthetic knives up to 12" long will result in
injuries. Should be all cardboard centers with 1/2 thick duct tape if over
5-6". A 1/2" thick wooden bowie knife with 6" handle and 12" blade could do
serious damage.
------
Gear is not going to be standardized which means a potentially dangerous
rag-tag amalgam of gear will be permitted. Gear should be provided and
standard and tested by the inviting organization to be sufficient in
trials, imo.
------
This rule is too restrictive"
o "The opponent who first delivers two clear thrusts or cuts upon the
other shall be declared Victor of that individual bout."
Should be "three strikes in a row, or four total strikes".
Two strikes in a row could be a fluke. Might be easier to score than having
matches that could go out to 3-3 with sudden death looming, but not as fun
to do or watch, imo.
------
Cuts to the top and sides of the head should be valid targets.
------
Cuts to the face should be allowed since they are wearing masks and
(hopefully lighter weapons). (also, how do you make a mask that protects
the top of the head anyway?)
