Well, a corporation is a privilege not a right.
Thank you for finally displaying your true sympathies.... Mr.
ANARCHIST.
I'm always eager to learn.
hahahahahaha!!!
Now cut that out! My ribs can't take such punishment.
So do go on - I'm all ears to hear your
analysis of how a corporation is a right rather than a privilege.
'freedom of assembly'
My book includes the right to associate how and with whom
one pleases, as one of those 'inalienable' thigamijiggers.
Even to pool resources for the purpose of industrial
investment, with goal of.... send the children from the
room... PROFIT!!! (which could even result in....
INEQUALITY!!!!) A thousand pardons for speaking so
vulgarly in mixed company.
An enlightened country would attach strong conditions to the grant
of this privilege, including for example the obligation to provide
social benefits such as jobs, etc.
oh yes, an ENLIGHTENED country... where one faction dictates
"strong conditions" to another, via your friend and mine... the
STATE! But pardon me, it's not mob rule, it's... democracy!!!
LOL
Third: Luckily, theose same mechanisms referred to
above can be used to correct errors, redress grievances,
and set out on new, wiser courses.
Yes, the benign mechanisms of THE STATE can be used
to intrude on PRIVATE agreements. You do Chumsky proud...
There is no obligation to persist in manifest error - as, for instance,
with corporations as presently constituted!
Error? Well, if you refer to 'limited liability', agreed, that
is corrupt, no such exemption should exist. Then this
tiff is a storm in a cup.
But your rhetoric has a suspiciously left wing Chomskyist
aroma.. the familiar 'eat the rich' inflammation... anyone
TOO productive is by definition criminal, and must be
relieved of his gains for 'the good of society'.
The funniest part of this is, I'm far more anarchist than you!
I trust the boardrooms of IBM and Shell - you know, PRIVATE
entities - a hundred times more than I do our "enlightened" shepherds
in gov't, at any level.
Then you are a fool. Wherever power is concentrated, there must be
checks and balances with the hands of the people as a whole firmly
gripping the levers of power, rather than those of a small cadre.
Power is "concentrated" at Shell? Dubya save us!
Public servants are SERVANTS and they must be held accountable.
The people at Burger King are PUBLIC SERVANTS? Just
like the kindly folks who work for Big Brother? How come
nobody ever told me this before? I thought they they were
a private firm, peddling burgers in the agora.
This principle is much admired in the Constitution, but you would
hesitate to apply it to other institutions, corporations, arguably even
more powerful than the State? If so, you are a fool!
Suspicions confirmed, you are a Hun...
So, Toyota is more powerful than the State? Which
state would that be, besides your state of paranoia?
Power flows from the barrel of a gun, said Mao. So, Toyota
has armed goons extorting loot from the public, forcing
them to buy Camrys at gunpoint? Mercy me, I merely
thought they were brilliant auto manufacturers, engaged
in public commerce, offering value for value, as among
consenting adults in a civil society. Boy have I been asleep!
For the record: I deplore extortion by Toyota's thugs.
And it is therfore entirely proper for the polity to lay social
burdens and obligations on these artifical creatures in
how they come to be and how they act, including obligations
to benefit the society as a whole,
Private business is PRIVATE. I realize this word
has no meaning to a Chomskyist...
Individuals have no obligations to "society as a whole",
except those they VOLUNTARILY enter into. Bill Gates
deserves every penny, and doesn't owe leeches like you a dime.
