I'm getting confused ,are they the same or different things ? ,i saw a
video of bjj and it seemed pretty weird ,but the guy won

They are related but a little different. They are both sports in that they
fight under a set of rules, but the rules are different. BJJ has more
emphasis on groundwork (holds, locks, chokes) and allows a wider range of
locks to be applied. Judo has more emphasis on standing work (throws)
although there is still plenty of groundwork. Both train using a resisting
partner to make sure that you know how to apply the techniques for real.
Both work very well as self-defence, both work very well in increasing
general fitness, both are lots of fun and you could learn a lot from either.
Judo is easier to find and generally cheaper due to volunteer instructors
and the like. BJJ is usually a commercial enterprise.
