The primary cause isn't the way crops are harvested. The primary cause is incredible poverty in Mexico coupled with an unwillingness in the US to accept that you can't just build a fence, you have to make illegal immigrants unemployable. Doing that requires more than raising hell about trivialities. Current law requires that employers obtain an I-9 from their employees. If the federal government actually checked those I-9's and used the information to deport illegal workers and punish employers who provided the market, then a lot of illegal immigration would cease.
