mainly to show off I think (look what I can do). Good for the

I wish more parents would stay at my kids' class.
parents were around the less well behaved the kids were.
I assist-teach at my kids' class, and I know a lot of the parents personally (i.e. socially, unrelated to karate).
I've found that a quiet "do you want to calm down and pay attention, or do I have to ask [your mom/your dad] to stay during class time" keeps the rambunctious 6's, 7's and 8's down.
