I've read of one incident where a suspect took a full load of buckshot in
the chest at point-black and still ran off to play hide and seek in the
parking lot.

He sucked up three (iirc) of the .32 cal pellets into his heart and was
running on pure adrenalin. Ran into the parking lot and hid before his
body got the message that he was dead.
