Re: Maybe eye-surgery soon

Also get into Judo or BJJ, pronto. Vision-impaired people have an even
greater difficulty in maintaining striking or impact-weapon range, so
you should delve into mastering the contact-grappling range ASAP. You
really don't need vision to kick-ass in these styles, the dedicated
blind student can whup on a less-skilled but sighted training partner.

<Bojutsu>:
While I'm not worried about striking styles, with the exception of an
opening kickign system maybe, plenty of others with more skill &
training... & students. The cane idea just an extention from my staff
interet. What would be truly disapointing & regretable is the then loss
of & no way to pass on my staff experience & insights. Oh for a few or
even 1 serious student who was in it to learn & not just a "thing" till
soccer season or that I had gotten aroudn to putting everything or at
least more on video tape for lack of a cameraman, much less a
demo-partner. It would be like knowing that you could make a car that
would get 1,000 miles per gallon but never getting it built till
everyone goes solar & oil is obsolete & runs out anyways. Always
assuming that there would be more time & future students someday. Never
yet made it to Okinawa, to finally settle the 2 Tokomini/Tokumini bo
kata controversy for sure, All that time tryint to larn Japanese
Characters, having finally gotten to the 1st level of Kanji (umm like
1st grade of Japanese school, LOL), Again being like having spent years
to work out the perfect computer punchcard system to only have it all go
to waist now all being done by chips... Ah well, killed some time I
suppose, no worse than years of if I had been playing solitare at
least.

Though maybe all will turn out well & I'll get a 2nd chance. Maybe I
would have to "Pay students to learn" in order to get stuff passed on &
have partners trained enough to then get the stuff on video. Sad sad
world when the only way to get ppl to learn & gain something potentially
beneficial, you have to pay them when they should be paying you of
course. Maybe if we had flashy, shiney neon-colored uniforms of
something, to keep their attention. ;-) Otherwise (pardon 1 more
analogy), it feels like maybe working for decads to find a mythic lost
pyramid, finding it, then knowing it wholds the answers to exactly how
the pyramids were build, before it can be opened, it is then blown up to
make way for a road & all the potential gain in knowledge is to be lost.
For those with no interest in staff, insert whatever your most
passionate interest is. Again though, maybe I worry too much, certainly
overthink thinkgs too much & maybe all will still go well anyways.

To sum up; it wouldn't be the loss of doing martial arts per se but only
the loss of perhaps what I could have made some unique contribution to.
Where others are far better & numerous, no danger of any loss, esp
things that I'm new or not much trained in yet. Maybe if in another 20
years after doing some grappling style, I could build up to a level to
make some contribution or insight. Till then, IF the surgery goes badly,
it will be staff that I will lament not being able to pass on.
