Re: my son is *so* RMA...

I wish i could say it was my son, but I had a student in my class about 2
years ago. He was 7, I don't usually do kids classes, but it was a favor to
the guy who worked the front desk at the gym where i teach, he said he son
was really into it.

Well. I teach him along with the adult class, so well behaved it was scary,
he was soooo intent on learning everything. I paired him up with a fairly
strong 16 year old girl(the youngest student by a number of years) in my
class for some contact drills after about half the session. Well... he
starts knocking her back and making her give ground. Now he's barely half
her size. But she who is no slouch normally was having a bit of trouble
with him because of his well focused and commited attacks(especially since
he didn't have to lean or duck to attack her legs). I commented to another
student that he reminded me of Kenshin from the flashback scenes(an anime
series with a samurai) when he was a kid. As soon as I say Kenshin, he looks
up "Kenshin?", I say yes, he tells me he loves the series and apparently
it's been running on cartoon network and he's been practicing the moves from
the series(in the series, the flashbacks of him as a kid involve him running
at his teacher) with a broomstick at his house. I decided to pair him up
with me for the rest of the session. For seven years old, he did really
well. hell.. for most kids he did really well. He knew how to pass and hit
before coming to class and could coordinate running with multiple(2-3)
targetted attacks. Because of his size he had to kind of charge for any
real attack but it was a good attack. I found out after that he was
apparently only visiting with his stepmother from another state. I was
devastated, I had such big plans for him, definite raw talent. :)
