Most of the "thought" is wrong, too.
For any "swung" weapon that has fair mass and carry through such as an axe
or a ball bat, you've only got 2 options and both require good timing and
entering inside range.
First, you can enter before the strike reaches apex either just before
swing starts or just after swing but before momentum builds. This puts
you "inside" the swing and you can do lots of fun things from takedowns to
pivoting/spinning type throws since you can work with the building
momentum while sorta inside the "eye of the storm."
Second you can attempt to back dodge the swing and enter after the
momentum has passed you. Again, this requires delicate timing and you
must *avoid* the first attack. But after the momentum has passed you you
can enter and do a takedown or just lay the smack down on the goblin.
Ideally, you'd just shoot him from outside of his range, but I understand
this ain't an option in Liverpool.
