Meanwhile, I've been working on several sheaths, trying different
methods, leathers, and concepts. That last one is the tricky part.
Design... Boy I wish I was an artist.... But I've finally gotten the
forming mold down for a large folder sheath, and cut out a template for
the leather so there are no creases when I case it. That's a step in the
right direction. Last night I cast a mold for a leather case for my cell
phone. Tonight, (during commercials so I can go out on the veranda,)
I'll rasp and file it down so that it's ready for the leather. I'm
thinking of using a very thin watered down plaster 'slip' to coat and
finish the mold so that everything will be smooth inside. I've noticed
some lines in the leather that I cased using the sheath mold, but they
rubbed out well enough. I'd rather try to avoid that step.
