Kill files and filters

I have all the trolls filtered out in all the groups I read except for soc.culture.thai to make my life more comfortable reading these other groups. They destroyed the Thai news group long ago, so there is no need to even bother filtering that, and I use it to relay posts of theirs to the appropriate agencies. Believe me when I say that there ARE agencies actively working to clean up the Usenet. Your input can help. Don't just kill file. Use your filters to make life more comfortable, but don't forget about all of those who don't have access to killfiles and wind up leaving the group because of these trolls. Help the group, not just yourselves.
I do look at the filter logs for rec.knives each evening and am absolutely gob-smacked at how many posts these idiots are capable of making on just one day. I also wonder if they realize just how many people don't bother to read their posts? Or if and when they do, just laugh themselves silly at their antics. I wonder if they actually believe the stuff they write? Are they really that deluded? We know that Bob Johnson changes his name and address several times a day to try to be noticed. It must be rough for them having no friends at all, except others on the ward...
Back to knives and such... I've tried wrapping some of that water buffalo hide as lacing around a handle that I'm using to make a small war ax. The blade is Jantz's version of the Ulu that I find waaaay too thin. I cut out a newer blade from 1095 that I'll use for a real tool, but I wanted to do something with the Jantz blade. I inlet the wood for the blade's double tang, and pinned it with brass pins, setting the whole thing in epoxy. For the handle I used a length of rattan. I figured that since the Jantz blade was so light I could get away with a light wood for the handle, but I wanted to be sure it wouldn't split so I've been wrapping the water buffalo hide lace around it. I'll know in a day or two if this is going to work.
At the same time, I'm using flat sheets of this hide to try to make handles for the wood carving blades. I have them under pressure around the tang and will release it tomorrow and let it dry, then do the final shaping. Who knows? Maybe this will actually work!
