Highs:
Awesome festival! Thanks to all who worked hard to put it together.
Highs
-Meeting people and making new friends!
-Getting psyched up to juggle. It's been a while since I've REALLY
practiced,
and being around so many people working on so many things inspired me to
work
hard again, and to come up with some new stuff.
-Learning passing patterns! I'm not much of a passer, but I had lots of
fun
learning a couple cool patterns thanks to various folks. :)
-Talking MA late Friday night with C,N and M!
-Teaching folks tricks, and learning new tricks myself (and thanks to Josh
for
the 720 tips).
-Excellent quality workshops. Was especially impressed with Wes' 3b
composition workshop.
-Combat! Lots of fun as combat always is, with the added experience of
this
being my first time playing outside. Darn sun glare. :p Discovered how
effective distracting patter can be (thanks Wesley and Alan! :D), and from
now
on I will attempt to chatter aimlessly while battering my opponents with
clubs!
-The show! Especially Wes Peden (Absolutely mind blowing! MIND BLOWING),
and
Ivan Pecel (wickedly funny - especially watching his reactions to my dad's
heckling! Ivan, if you're reading this, you go girl! :D).
-5b Mills Mess stealing with Doug! It was so cool when we finally pulled
it
off!
-Picking up some Play one piece clubs. Those things are awesome for
combat!
-Games! Lots of fun to participate in, and lots of fun to watch.
-Wes being Simon for Simon Says, and making us do weird things like
"juggle two
in one hand and draw a star in the air with the other ball". Odd stuff
like
that made for an unusual experience that was lots of fun!
-Managing to win a couple games, including simon says! I've wanted to win
that
ever since I lost at Sky Says the last couple fests I've been too! :D
-Gym staying open even during/after the shows.
-Getting a french silk pie on the way home!! I love those things!!
Lows
-Kind of low ceiling. While high enough for most purposes, whenever I
tried a
b633633 (with balls) the b always hit the ceiling, which made it come down
too
fast and mess up my pattern. :(
-Slightly small room. Things were kinda crowded, and most of the time
there
wasn't room for me to try my tricks involving rolls and such. Also
necessitated combat being played outside (which was mixed, rather fun, but
also
having disadvantages such as sun and wind).
-Kind of sad that I had to miss the talent show. I *could* have gone to
it,
but I was tired as it was, and didn't feel like staying up till 1 am.
However,
if I had gone, I probably wouldn't have done the 5b mm stealing mentioned
in my
highs! So in my book that made up for missing the talent show. :)
-Having to leave Sunday before all the games were done.
-Looooong drive home. Technically it took about the same time, but due to
various factors it felt a lot longer. :p Also took forever to find a
Perkins
to get aforementioned french silk pie.
Goal
-Didn't have a whole lot of goals for this fest. Have fun (check!) and
get
together with some folks I had only met via the interwebs (check!).
Crush
-Wes! Between his awesome new juggling routines, his pink shoes/blue sock
combo, his glittery green fingernails and his stories about ninja turtle
underwear, Wes = Awesome!
Bane
-Can't really think of one.
Surprise
-Getting some new clubs. I really wasn't planning to buy new props, and I
didn't expect anyone to be selling clubs there (got 'em from Cheryl,
SportCo).
-Nirav and Malachy doing Capoeira!
Passing 8 singles and 9 clubs for the first time.
Combat: I almost never get to play.
Wes' routine. That was really incredible.
Learning from and staring at all the really really good jugglers.
Meeting the man with the 9 and 10 ball bouncing records.
Ivan's patter.
Passing a bunch with a lot of different people. Learning a lot of
different tricks.
Seeing Isaac juggle 6 with his huge Americans.
Seeing Doug do 771 with clubs. And b6666 under that ceiling. And
collecting db97531 under that ceiling.
Alan and Thom's workshop and talent show performance.
Lows:
The performance music for Tony and Wes. It made me feel nauseous (but
that may have just been me getting sick).
Hitting Wesley in the face during combat(see TraxxasJedi's post above).
Getting hit in the face during combat.
Missing Christian's Golden Bunny winning performance at the talent show.
Goals:
Not embarrass myself too much. Hopefully check.
Learn new things and meet new people. Definitely check.
Get 9797971 in the gym. Fail.
Crush:
Franklin for letting us use his place.
Guy who I passed 9 clubs with. I am sorry, I have no idea what his name
is.
Doug, Isaac and Wes Peden.
Bane:
White ceiling, white walls and white balls.
Lack of sleep. Getting sick.
The finger I thought had healed not actually being healed.
Surprise:
Wes' routine. I was kinda apprehensive that it would be like Tony's. He
really knows how to talk to an audience and structure a performance. I
was totally blown away.
Thank you,
thatguy
