As you say, Dave, it isn't rocket science. However, one of my all-white
Beard Circus Specials has a really dodgy end knob. I purchased the
necessary end-piece from a Beard rep at a Convention a while back, but
here's the thing - the bad knob refuses to be seperated from the club (and
yes, I know you're supposed to simultaneously push and twist - my dad's an
electrician) - is there a possibilty that a bit of superglue has been used
in the manufacturing process?

It's more likely that the screw is just stiff. The following tips might
help to get it out.

1 - Make sure you're using the right screwdriver. Don't use a crosshead
screwdriver with a phillips screw (or vice versa) - also make sure it's
the right size. If you skip this step you'll end up with a mashed up
screw head which is no use to anyone.

2 - Use the longest screwdriver that you can find. I've never understood
why, but you seem to be able to get greater torque with a long screwdriver.

3 - Try tightening the screw a little first. You'll often find that tightening
a wood screw frees it up sufficiently to then undo it completely.

If you really can't get it out, and you're going to replace the knob
with a new one I'd use a stanley knife to cut away the old knob, then a
pair of molegrips to get the old screw out - and replace both screw and
knob. (I have a feeling that Beard ship their spare knobs with screws)
