Video Conversion/Combination Program

I don't want this to be considered as spam here, but I do want to mention
a piece of software that will be free for the next ~22 hours.

For those of you who don't know, there's a service called "Giveaway of the
Day" that offers certain pieces of software for free for a 24 hour period.
Most of it is crap, but occasionally something interesting comes along.

Today's software is called "Aplus Video Joiner" and says that it allows
you to convert and combine movie files of a variety of formats (as opposed
to Windows Movie Maker, that only supports a limited set of file types).

Now, I don't know anything about this software aside from what I've read
on the GAOTD website, but I thought it might be useful for people wanting
to make a collaborative video, that may involve videos from a variety of
sources. So don't consider this a recommendation for the program, simply
mentioning that it's free at the moment. There may be other options out
there (even freeware ones), so if this thread only serves to promote
discussion of peoples favourite video editing software, I'm happy with
that.
