Please forward me the details of the production house you have found
which will *press* (not burn, press) a run of 100 DVDs for 80Euros

I've made repeated attempts to find a company which will press glass
master DVDs for me, in quantities of less than 1000 units - and the
closest I've come is 500 units for substantially more than 80cents
a disk. (Especially when you include the mastering fee)

The only companies that duplicate disks in quantities that small, and
at that cost, use the same type of disks as Luke is using for this
project. The only difference is that they have a robot which loads
the disks into the duplicator.

If you have a lead on a company that will glass master and press a
DVD in small quantities at reasonable prices - I would seriously
*love* to hear of it. Seriously. 100% serious. Email me at

I'm not being awkward - I'm genuinely interested as the DIY DVD-R [1]
approach is what eventually killed the www.trickswithhats.org/dvd
project - and if I could get disks pressed at a reasonable cost I
could reconsider and possibly re-publish.

Sorry Luke for hijacking your thread to rant at length about this,
but it irritates me when people who have never tried to put out
a DVD assume that it's a walk in the park.

[1] For info "DIY DVD-R" involved a robotic, professional grade
duplication machine with 5 burn slots, and grade-A professional
DVD-R disks. The mere fact that they were DVD-R's made them
unplayable in some machines but not others and caused a world
of pain in terms of support.

That and I suck at being a businessman.
