Oh you should try entering the US as a foreign citizen.  I've never been

visiting our bestest ally in the whole world.

I was appalled, on my last re entry into the US, to see that our border
people were PHOTOGRAPHING and FINGERPRINTING EVERY person who came to
visit.

Dear John and Alan,

I feel you brothers. I am not really impressed with the TSA, DHS, and
basically the entire U.S. government. To keep things in perspective,
here's a few other countries that bust balls from time to time (YMMV):

Japan (just went there last week. They are photographing and
fingerprinting too)
Australia (man, they went nutso when I brought in kendama--it's a wood
item, I know, but an anal cavity search for that? Hmmm...)
Israel (not getting in, but getting out. Ask me about my experience
leaving Ben Guerin airport with Tr'espace after IJC 2006. It's a LONG
story)
India (man, I love getting shaken down for bribes by actual government
officials)

Please don't mistake my comments for knee-jerk American apologism--the
U.S. blows too. Ask Jouni.

John, you gonna be at the EJC? Please say yes. =)
