I am your basic klutz, 44 years old, convinced that taking up juggling

- Throw *slightly* higher. You say you're throwing to eye height, try
moving that up by about 6 inches or so, to just above eye level. This
might be a small diference, but it gives you a *lot* more time. Use
this extra time to relax your pattern. Make your throws slightly earlier,
and don't rush them!


I've discovered that a little more focus on standing straight (straightening
the back) helped a lot on my throws - stopped me from running around in the
livingroom ...

Should I be working on another pattern besides the 3-ball cascade? It
seems like working on tossing balls in columns with the right and left
hands would be a handy thing to do -- is it too early to start working
on that?

I think it's probably a bit early for that. Columns is a slightly
diferent throwing style, and I think it would probably just cause you
problems. Wait until you've got a solid cascade first :-)

I second that - however doing a little columns training helped me
discovering how much different my lefthand throws were ... (more practice),
and practising one or two different patterns also made it a little fun to
juggle ... just being able to variate a little

But most important of all - as mentioned by everyone above - having fun is
the important thing, I juggle for fun not to make a career.
