Just as additional information the jugglers are probably the four Philipps.
I remembered the "leapfroging over two people and picking 3 clubs" trick
from a german documentary about Ernest Montego. Since I had recorded this
video I just checked it. It turns out that Ernest Montego shows a picture
of 3 jugglers (2 femal 1 male), who perform the trick exactly as in the
video, furthermore they have very similar looking clothes and clubs.
Cool! Thanks for that, I'll go do some digging based on the name.
It seems that the footage is from a number of newsreels, I was relying
on the clip numbers to be a good indicator of the order, but it seems
this isn't nescesarrily the case.
For example, the knife throwing section is from a seperate newsreel to
the circus section as can be seen from the version hosted at:
http://www.archive.org/details/KnifeThr1950
Which includes sound, and extra footage. According to archive.org the
knife thrower is Louella Gallagher and the "targets" are Connie Ann
(Aged 5) and Colleena Sue (Aged 2.5)
The introductory clips, the aerial view of the site and the outside the
tent clips appear to be older than the other footage and date from circa
1947. The circus shown in those clips appears to be "Cole Brothers".
If anyone has any other information about the provinence of any of the
rest of the footage - please get in touch!
