Had a great time yesterday. Excellent site and loads to do (35 workshops).
yes workshops went well despite having a few cancellations and few non
attended ones and a few just trick swap workshops, but yeah it was tough
scheduling it all in..
....was there enough room for all of them? I didn't know if splitting the
rooms in two would work!
A fantastic day of catching up with some old friends, loads of workshops
and all topped up with a top-notch show. The organisers are the ones doing
next year's BJC (which includes the WJF). It should be stunning. Note to
those not in the UK- Start saving for your travel, and book your holiday
asap for Easter-ish 2007.
Nice one Monkey Juggler cheers for the free promo.
Looking forward to BJC2006 too which we are helping out with too to get
experience:
Pre-reg officially ends tomorrow but I'm sure there's still time:

Its been quite good numbers so far, so this years should be a big one. See
you all there ;)
Right here goes:
NAJC2:
LOW: waking up after a bad nights sleep (due to nerves) with a sore throat
and really not feeling like running a convention.
Realising the staging for the show hadn't arrived a 6pm (an hour
late)...show starts at 7pm.
BANE: Ripping all the show tracks to my computer during the day, only to
find half of them 'lost' just before the show. So seetting up a CD player to
deal with it with only an hour to go. All the time with images of a drunken
clown haunting me.
The power cable to my sound system kept falling out and blanking the music.
It happened during the games - sorry Tim and during Pete Bone's bit in the
show - sorry Pete. I meant to fix it before the show started but was busy
sorting out the other music problem (above).
The CD player turned its volume right down for Andy and Andy's act - no idea
why - but luckily worked it out without too awkward a gap.
So basically, first time doing the sound for a show and not too many drunken
clown moments. Got away with it but bane is tempramental sound equipment.
Also need to get someone in to do the lighting in future. Its quite a fine
art... well done Kev and Mike for giving it a go. They'd never done it
before ;0
Also no Blue Cat and Tree hugging :(
GOAL: to get through the day without 'falling on my arse' too many times.
Apart from a few sound problems it went OK (thanks Jay Lynn for this
wording). We had a great team all doing our allocated jobs well. So I think
we achieved the goal of getting through the convention without any big stuff
ups. Well done NAJC2 crew ;)
CRUSH: the Mufti Fancy Dress ladies definately and I quote Andy Vass at 3am
'Can we invite the Mufti ladies everywhere?'. Hopefully we'll see more of
them at conventions.... and more dressing up silliness generally ;) Seeing
Martin and Pete da Painter hug/wrestling as a drunkeness barometer it
usually means the party has well and truely started.
HIGH: quite a few of these luckily
Tim Foolery compering the games - very natural and very good.
Jack Jesters seeing his logo on the T-shirts.
Seeing the T-shirts sell really well, even though I wasn't sure about the
colours. Good call Team Randall.
Jason Perry seeing my convention T-shirt transfer picture of him from the
Ursepio stop spamming rec.juggling episode - it reads - 'YEEAH what they
said' and has a picture of Jason who has a picture of Jani (see below) -
infinite cat project anyone?:
http://www.moleseyjugglers.co.uk/tonycakesthingontheweb/Ursepio99.jpg
Anton beating Angie (the other A-team) at hoola gladiators
Using Mad's tiny mini-ipod to play 6 hours of music through the sound
system - filling a room with atmosphere from something the size of a credit
card!!
Natty's bit in the show. Well done Nat.
The show keeping to time quite well.
The stage guys finishing the stage at 6.45pm... phew!!
Getting to the end of the show and the day and finally relaxing.
How well the fancy dress went down... hopefully we can build on that.
Hanging out with Andy Vass and Andy Parry (the real A-team) and the Mufti
ladies back at my place until 5am.
Seeing my nephew Oscar on stage with his dad, my sister being able to stay
for the show.
Realising Hayley could drive my van home so that I could get drunk and dance
to great music in rediculous fancy dress.
Waking up in the morning an reading some great posts on rec.juggling with
Norbi and Tempei - thats what we do it for ;)
All in all a nervous start that went well and some great silly fun into the
early hours.
Thanks to a great NAJC2 team and all the perfromers and workshop leaders.
See you all at BJC 2006 I hope.
More videos and photos please....
Cheese, Peachi
