Good question, well, out of my close group of friends, only one
juggles, and only one has another hobby: computer games/star
wars/science fiction. When I go out with other friends, we generally
just talk about anything really. Juggling will always come up in some
form of another, as somebody might ask how shows are going, etc. But
generally the converation is about anything, really.

What makes an interest a hobby, though? I like watching comedy
programs on TV, some reality TV, but is it a hobby? Well, I watch TV
every night, but I don't know research online about my favorite tv
shows, go on discussion boards about them, I don't attend conventions
about tv shows, or buy merchandise related to them. I guess it's an
interest, not a hobby.

I think an interest becomes a hobby when you really start to pursue it
in all forms, reading/writing/learning about it. Lots of people read
the newspaper, watch the news, watch sports, but does that become a
hobby, or just an interest?

I often times thought that I should have another hobby, that "just
juggling" wasn't enough, it maybe sounded like I wasn't well-rounded.
But, for me, juggling is more than just practice. It's reading/posting
to forums like this, doing shows, thinking about shows, marketing,
attending conventions, reading about juggling history. I think those
aspects, transferred into any area, make something a "hobby" as opposed
to an interest.
