In this context it's completely irrelevant anyway. Chris' video wasn't
a promotional video. The only publicity it got was here on
rec.juggling. A booker wouldn't get the reference, it's not relevant!

In reply to the OP:

Bookers are booking a performer, not a trick monkey. Give them a
performace rather than studly juggling in a gym.

What you put in your promo should give a good reflection of what you
would do in a show, a good approach seems to be to use footage of actual
shows. Be sure to include lots of audience interaction and reaction
shots - They want to know that you can entertain an audience! If you do
more than one type of show, put in footage that shows your range.

As ever, think about the production. Take care with the camera, use a
tripod, shoot the same show several times in diferent venues, if
possible shoot the same show in the same venue from diferent angles.
Take care over it and I'm sure you'll come up with the goods!

It wouldn't hurt to spend some time trawling the web looking for
performers with promo videos on their websites. Watch them. If you
watch them with your juggling mind switched off and your "Lets pretend I
want to book someone for my event" mind switched on you'll soon work out
which videos work and which videos make you want to switch off
immediately.

My personal favourite promo videos can all be found at
http://www.howie.tv/pages/product.htm - but they've been profesionally
produced... which is of course always an option...
