Most, if not all, of the negative experiences I have had while hunting were on
private land.
On public land I might have to change spots because someone was already there
(more often when small game hunting than when after deer). But, on private land
I have had bullets come flying by close enough to hear the buzz and have noticed
people using the scope on their rifle to check out who is hunting the private
land next to theirs. I have noticed that private land has more people hunting it
than many hunters want to admit.
I think the best is to have permission to access and hunt private land that
borders and provides access to the back stretches of public lands.
