Hi Raz,
I just talked with Steve Pagel, the president of Forge Bows. I explained
your situation to him and here's what he told me.
He said that your son probably had a draw length in the neighborhood of 17
inches. With that draw length, there really isn't a decent bow out there.
Forge does make two different youth bows, one called "The Snook" and the
other is the PLS
http://www.forgebow.com/pls.html
The problem is that both bows are designed with a 21 inch draw length. I
don't know how big your son is, but you might be stuck with the Bear Cub for
this year. You might be able to put a different rest on the bow and let him
use it this year. Then, next year on his birthday, give him an updated,
higher quality bow.
Give Steve Pagel a call, if anyone can help you, it's him. I have a
prototype Forge bow that I used on a recent elk hunt in Wyoming and I was
highly impressed with the performance of that bow, and Steve knows his
stuff. You can find the phone number on his website.
