The problem here is that you are assuming that it is somehow natural
and correct that "science" et al should be taught in a massive
education establishment that consumes the bulk of our tax dollars,
while "religion" is relegated to the "church/temple" 2 afternoons a
week and paid for with whatevr money happens to be left. This also
sends our children a message. And it is culturally insensitive; it
presupposes a Christian model of education where Sunday school may
actually be all the education required, and ignores the Jewish model
which places education as the cornerstone of religious observance.

My children go to a dual track day school, where I can assure you that
they are not taught Creationism in science class. But as punishment
for insisting on the religious track, we are completely abandoned by
the public school system we are paying for.
