Hi everyone
This crest puzzled us for some time as we couldn't read what is the
motto and couldn't identify the language, although it has a sense of
latin. Some people mixed up whether "r" is indeed the letter "R" or
the uncial "S" and whether "Q" is replacing "CU" or "QU" abbreviated.

Can anyone give any idea about it?

Thanks all

It is indeed puzzling. The the script looks like a Gaelic script, but
there is a serious problem with this - there is no "Q" in Gaelic, and
the inscription itself is certainly not in Gaelic. The arms and two
crests are also consistent with Irish arms.

For this being Gaelic: The forms of the letters "G", and "s" (if the
latter is not an "r")
The form of the letter "d" is not inconsistent with Gaelic.

Against this being Gaelic script: There is simply no letter "Q" In
Gaelic, and q appears twice here.

If we say that the script is Gaelic, then the inscription possibly
reads (reading the r-like character as actually "s"):
"Gqis Geqo ugus cnodas," which is simply nonsense in Gaelic!

So, might this be someone trying to write an inscription from some
other language using Gaelic letters, but being unfamiliar with the
alphabet, or just a total error by the inscriber (been know to
happen!)?

The Chief
