Have you actually read what was written and tried to think what was
meant?

ad hominem attacks, so soon?

No, this won't do.

That's too bad, that's how I took it, and that's how I responded. Asking
someone if they "tried to think" before posting is an attack any way you
slice it. Sorry if you took that as a counter attack on your favorite
author, but believe me, GSS can take of himself out here.

Guy only pointed out your ignorance on the subject
of how French titles are regulated. Be humble and take that with grace,
even if you might think that he did so a bit more pointedly than
absolutely necessary. To an onlooker, it was absolutely clear that you had
opened your mouth
over something that you really didn't know swat about.

Kind of like you're doing now, eh? I really could not care less. I don't
remember claiming to be a world expert on French titles, and would never
do so. I assume that GSS and probalby others, know more about it, and
don't go into it too deeply for that reason. I know for a fact that sooner
or later Velde would correct us both, and avoided going too deeply into it
for that reason.

Now, there is
absolutely nothing inherently shameful in being ignorant of arcane
French procedures when it comes to noble titles.

Wow. that's big of you when I never said I knew anything of them. We all
know there a part of the name. I posted my opinion that all that arcane
detail stuff is exactly that. We were on GERMAN stuff and got out on a
tangent.

But one should
acknowlegde it when one makes a posting based on erroneous assumptions
and is corrected by someone who knows better.

It wasn't corrected, period. My posting was that I didn't see a
difference, nor care. That's my opinion. Facts can be corrcted when
incorrect. True opinions cannot be corrected. They remain, agreed with,
disagreed with, or ignored.

William,
What's the point of discussing matters with you when presenting the facts
and arguments apparently doesn't get in the way of the 'true opinions' you
hold - opinions that can't be corrected? If that's the position you wish to
take I think the we've gone as far as we can with this subject.
