By this reasoning the arms and regalia of the Niadh Nask would have to
be accepted, as they were registered by lawful heraldic authority, to

Although I have seen many grants/matriculations/registrations of arms
with gongs painted upon the letters patent I haven't yet come across a
grant of arms that included gongs as a part of the blazon of the
achievement. Perhaps Sean could point me to an example which might
prove his assertion that gongs must be displayed because they are a
legal and integral part of a grant. My understanding is, and always has
been, that gongs are not a part of the grant/matriculation/regulation
and are merely "allowed" to be "attached" to an illustration as a
courtesy; this being the case Sean's reasoning is flawed.
'A New Book of Rights', page 114, states that the South African State Herald registered the arms of the Niadh Nask on 23 March 1983, Number 1319, 'Vert, a cross pomme argent, fimbriated or, charged with a Greek cross vert.' The same source, pages 149-61, gives the original Spanish text and a translation of a 'Certificate of Genealogy, Nobility and Arms', issued 20 December 1997 by the Cronista de Armas of Castille and Leon in favour of Terence Francis MacCarthy (Tadhg V), The MacCarthy Mór, Prince of Desmond and 17th Lord of Kerslawny, Chief of the Name and Arms of the Eóghanacht Royal House of Munster, Hereditary Head of the Niadh Nask. The blazon of his arms includes the words, 'The shield is encircled by the Collar of the Niadh Nask and supported by two Angels'. Now while MacCarthy circulated some forged documents, the contemporary official documents he circulated appear to have been generally authentic, for example, the preposterous certificate of chiefship and letter approving sale of titles provided by the Office of the Chief Herald of Ireland.
