Are you saying that the NN may surface again generally or are you
saying it may appear in Burke's specifically? I assume it is the
former because the Burke's Register, as far as I'm aware, has not
been published.

You seem to be getting your criticism in first before anything actually
happens. It is a bit like someone saying "I hope Sean Murphy will not
use his respected reputation to validate a false chief." There is no
evidence that you have done, or will ever do, such a thing. Therefore,
I see no reason why you should aim a similar accusation at someone else.

Of course I have absolutely no track record of validating false or questionable chiefs, rather the opposite I would have thought. As I think most of those who value Burke as a reference work will readily admit, its past record in relation to pedigrees in particular was not exactly flawless, but the publishing branch was perceived as having largely put its house in order. An online publication uncritically reproducing debatable arms and an unproven pedigree, as in the McShane-Johnson case under discussion, is very much to be regretted. See again the arms at http://www.armorial-register.com/arms-za/arms-johnson-jrm.html, which are clearly those of a claimant to chiefship, and although presented in Scottish style, the alleged title is Irish, hence my intervention. Burke's Register indicates that it will only accept arms validated by a lawful heraldic authority, but this principle would admit the arms and regalia of the Niadh Nask, rubber stamped as they were both by the South African and the Castile & Leon authorities.
