Current Mid-Bores for African Hunting

Mid-bore rifles in the 33 caliber range, such as the 318 Westley Richards (
actual bullet diameter .330 inch) and the 33 Jefferey were very popular in
Africa for all but the largest game, but both cartridges seem to be obsolet
e now. What has replaced them? 338 Winchester Magnum?
