Re: Think about this one

What I have often thought about is "if they demand my wallet, how much risk
am I in?" If I can avoid killing someone for $10-$200 dollars, why not? It
might cost me $10,000 - $200,000 dollars to stay out of prison.

And if I had bad dreams about CCW _before_ killing somone, how many
dreams would I have _after_ listening to him scream and writhe and bubble
as they bled out at my feet, while I thought "I could have handed him my
wallet, instead"

That's just me, your milage my vary. It may be "encouraging crime".

If I could be sure that merely handing over some cash would get me home
without wounds or lawyers, I probably would. Certainly if someone had the
drop on me, I would bet my life that they could pull a triugger before I
could imitate Bruce Lee!

Is it self defense, or defense of your wallet? Maybe it is less than smart
to carry so much money around, that you would rather risk your life than
its loss. At least move the big bills into your shorts before going into a
high-crime neighborhood. Or who is it that is "encouraging crime"?

On the other hand, a crazed or drugged-up mugger might kill me anyway.

I don't think that I owe it to my neighbors to play "chicken" with someone
whose gun is already out and finger on the trigger.

Just by the way - I have heard "stick 'em up!" dozens of times, several
times from behind. It was always a "joker" and I was never in doubt.

At the very least, in your dream scenario, before you spray bullets in a
generally 6 o'clock direction, at least say "Dat you again, Guiseppi? I'ma
gonna have my brudda Tony breaka botha you legs if you do dat ta me ONE more
time!" Maybe that would only work in New Jersey.
