Rather negative there sgt. A lower power cartridge and a heavier pistol
might add up to more accurate fire.
I just picked up a new PPK/S. The workmanship is so-so. It appears the
intentions were good but the follow through is lacking. For example the
ramp appears to have been polished but only the center portion and the
barrel-to-frame joint is still visible for the full width. Another example
is the frame finish has a little marring that is hidden by the slide. On
the other hand, the fit of the slide to frame seems to be outstandingly
tight. Too bad that a tight slide probably isn't particularly important or
desirable for this particular pistol.
If weight was a concern I wouldn't get an all metal pistol but heavy is
just fine for me. A pistol that sits in my hand instead of trying to jump
around is a good thing. In my opinion target shooting is a relaxing and
enjoyable hobby not a fight with a jerking piece of plastic. :-)
It's also nice that the PPK/S is easy to conceal but there are many choices
for that application. I happen to like my Kahr but the PPK/S has it's place
since it's a little smaller.
On another note, anyone have guidelines on how much the PPK/S slide can be
lightened before reliable functioning becomes an issue?
