I wouldn't do it with a hand drill. The screws need to be perpendicular,
spaced correctly and not to deep. Then tapped so the mounts can be screwed
down. I would check with a gunsmith it shouldn't be too expensive,
especially if the gun is in good shape. The e2 22s I have are about 30 years
or older, and they have groves on the receiver for 22 scopes
