The .270 Winchester shooting the most popular load of a 130 grain bullet may
indeed be barely adequate. Have you ever seen a 6.5mm 160gr bullet? This
particular bullet is the very reason the various European 6.5's are such an
excellent *big* game cartridges. The bullet is very long and heavy; moose
hunters claim the big bullet always completely penetrates the animal. If the
..270 had a comparable bullet it would weigh something over 170gr. and it too
would graduate from a ok medium game cartridge to an excellent big game
choice.
