I'd lay a bet that if you checked at random rifles which were first time
rifle purchases at Walmart without regard to how long it's been since
they were purchased but are equipped with a scope bought separately that
over half of them would be off more then five MOA at 100 yards.

The reasons would be a combination of not knowing the scope needs to be
zeroed, not knowing how to zero a scope, just not getting around to
zeroing the scope, and knowing the concept but not doing it correctly.

Maybe those owned by neurosurgeons would be under 50% but I wouldn't bet
on that.
