Re: Non 1911 "cocked and locked"



I carry a full size 1911 cocked and locked in an inside the waist band
holster and have done so for years. It is one of the safest guns to carry.
It has four safeties. Grip safety, thumb safety, trigger safety and what is
between your ears. The only difference between it and the Glocks ( other
than the safeties and ammo capacity) is that it must be kept cleaner. I
have tried other guns and still feel the 1911 is safer.
As an experiment, I carried a 1911 with the chamber empty and the hammer
back for a year to see what would happen. Nothing happened. The hammer never
fell.
You may have to dress a little differently to get away with carrying it; but
that is no big problem.
