Thanks for the info. I hunted right much in the rain last year and i'll
check them plungers before i head off this year after my broken neck heals.
If i get to go at all.
I own a bunch of remingtons, and never had any trouble, but it's worth
jabbing an extractor before i head off, because if i have trouble, guess
what, i have 30 other rifles i could take...including three mausers.
I've never had any trouble and i like to shoot my rifles--especially my
..308 M700--but this is good to know that if the plunger seizes up, i could
blow an extractor.
I do have a suspiscious 30-06 M700 whose extractor is about to fail, but
i got it for 350.00 and it was like that when i got it, and it still works
for now. It's the staked in kind. yikes.
So if you're like me, and you love the sleek simple lines of a 700 (and
I've fallen for the Model 7 too)...better get two. At least, that's a good
excuse you can tell your wife.
