Most definitely, semiautomatic firearms are designed to have the
bolts/slides pulled fully to the rear and then released to close freely. I
have never heard of one designed to be closed gently and slowly. Don't
think of it as dangerously slamming closed. Think of it as closing exactly
as it would when it is firing. In operation, that cycling of bolt will
happen so quickly, you may not even be able to see it unless you
concentrate. Pull'er back and let'er go!
