So, no one else in the mood for a meaningful contribution here?
Again, which one you would go for, based on experience, and why:
1) powerful handgun (not as powerful as long gun, but ALWAYS
WITHIN REACH and QUICKEST TO USE at all times...)
2) powerful shotgun (the main feature here is VERSATILITY - along
with power: you can choose within seconds (if the situation
allows) between slugs, buckshot and shot, according to the
threat in front of you... Otherwise, a brenneke slug is the one
that goes into the chamber when you cycle the pump...)
3) powerful rifle (PROVEN STOPPING POWER, but not as versatile
as shotgun nor always within reach/as quick to use as handgun...)
Let's not waste time as to the individual weapons/cartridges of choice
(which has been discussed to death for years... we all know what the
most powerful weapons in each category are...), but let's focus on
CATEGORY alone: handgun, shotgun, or rifle? Each one of these
weapons is best for some aspects in the context of the SD scenario,
and worst for some others...
The scenario, again, is self-defense (not hunting purposes) on
Alaskan land (which includes big bear, smaller critters and also
two-legged predators).
What if the scenario were the lower 48 states (which would exclude
in all probability brownies...)
Would that alone prompt you to choose another weapon category?
Thanks...
Your expert opinion will be much appreciated!
